A Michael Jackson release is rarely without controversy, and Michael, the singer's highly anticipated posthumous album which hits shops today, is no exception. As soon as its release was announced to the world, his dismayed mother Katherine Jackson suggested to Oprah that "some of the tracks on the album are fake", while Quincy Jones, the man behind Thriller, added to the chorus of disapproval, declaring that the new CD "should have all stayed in the vault".
It's a controversial album because, of course, its artist is dead, and the songs were formed from part-finished vocal tracks, recorded in 2007 at the request of his record company Sony. Three of the tracks were completed by the producer Teddy Riley, who worked on the 1992 album Dangerous with Jackson and was responsible for his hit Remember The Time.
Riley insists that his friend Jackson would have approved: "I'm confident he would have wanted his message out there, and that's what counts," he says. In fact, Riley is so pleased with the way Michael turned out that he's optimistic for even more posthumous releases. "They have enough [material]," he says. "Because Michael's songs are all about love, we could take vocals from here, put it with vocals from this. It's easy to do and I've demonstrated that." Producing songs in this way was a first for Riley, and he admits "it was quite interesting working on it and not having him to come in and do the vocals over".
Although that is one of the main arguments of the album's detractors, Riley has short shrift for his critics. "It put me in a position where I had to fight for my friend," he says, defending his role in its release. "I fought against his family – big time. The only reason I fought against them all and fought against the fans was to make them believe that this is Michael Jackson's vocals."
He says the family's objections were "disappointing" and that it should not have been a public matter, "especially when you're reaping the benefits". And he is equally dismissive of veteran producer Quincy Jones. "Look at his age. He can barely hear you talk. How the hell could he hear Michael? Anybody who says [it is not Jackson on the album], I do have a comeback, because you're not right. That's just the bottom line."

Angelina loved working with Johnny Depp, who has kids Lily-Rose, 11, and Jack, eight, with partner Vanessa Paradis, on the movie but was surprised by his many talents.
She explained in an interview with the Daily Record newspaper: “I think what surprised me was that he was as wonderful as I wished he would be. You just never know when you meet somebody and when I met him, he was even cooler and even more interesting. He's a Renaissance Man, he can paint, he can do music, he's one of those wonderful artists.”

Despite her lack of friends, Taylor thinks celebrating turning 17 earlier this year marked one of her best ever birthdays because of a special dessert she had.
She said: “We had cake, although I don’t like cake. I like brownies. But actual cake? I dunno. Something about it, too cliche. I was in Paris and they do shots of espresso over ice cream. Oh my god, that was my favorite thing ever.”

He said: "You want a secret? OK, how about this -- I've got a whole collection of tapes of me rapping from when I was 13! I wanted to be a rapper so there are hundreds and hundreds of tapes. They're very amusing!
"I was obsessed with Eminem when I was younger. When he first came out I was about 12 and fanatical about his 'Slim Shady' CD. I think he's a genius.”
The 24-year-old star even had his own “crew” but admits his lyrics were less-than-authentic.
He explained to Top of the Pops magazine: "Most of my rhymes were stolen off other people anyway. They were all like, ‘I was raised on these streets..’, which was a complete farce because I was actually raised in quite a nice area of London called Barnes. Not very ghetto at all!
"I was obsessed with it all, though. I even had my own little crew -- we called ourselves Big Tub and the Tappy Cats."
Robert has previously recorded tracks for the Twilight soundtracks but insists he has no plans to move into music full time.
He said: "I'm a bit of an attention seeker -- I love being on stage. But the thought of performing music on stage terrifies me. I'm not scared of acting though."
However, if the chance came to perform with rapper Eminem, Robert would jump at the chance.
He said: "I'd love to rap with Eminem! That would be really amazing."

Khloe Kardashian is a head taller than both of her sisters Kim and Kourtney, and she doesn't mind all that much -- except when it comes to some styles she just can't pull off because of her height. The reality star says there are certain articles of clothing her sisters wear that she has to stay away from, unfortunately.

Khloe's not the only Kardashian who wishes she could change her bod just a big. Kourtney says her New Year's resolution is getting in better shape. "Exercise," Kourt says. "Maybe I should start trying to work out."
Plus, we all know Kim has been self-conscious about her curvaceous bod in the past, though now she says she's learned to embrace her voluptuous body.

The money was given out primarily thourgh the Oprah Winfrey Foundation, with the media mogul supporting mainly education and programs for women and children.
Novelist Nora Roberts was second in charitable donations, giving $4.45 million to various organizations via her Nora Roberts Foundation, which focuses on literacy in poverty-stricken communities. Next up is actress Meryl Streep, who donated $4 million to the Silver Mountain Foundation for the Arts.
Oprah is nearly always at the top of the list of celebrity givers. "There are many generous celebrities, but when you can top a list of celebrity philanthropists three out of four years, as Oprah has, that is saying something,” said Marc Pollick, president of The Giving Back Fund, speaking to People magazine.

"I don’t use the Internet, but apparently you can find out everything on it,” says Ryder in the January issue of Ellemagazine. "I have my e-mail on my BlackBerry, and that’s about it. I’ve never read a blog, ever."
She even recently recieved an iPad from director Ron Howard, but she's never used. Nor does she enjoy watching movie trailers online. "I feel like it’s taking away that great anticipation of seeing a movie. It used to be you’d hear, like, Al Pacino was making a movie, and you wouldn’t know anything about it. And nowadays, you know it all, like how much [the actors] are being paid. I would hate to see a picture of me and the caption reads, ‘Is she worth it?’”

E! Online reports that Richie will be wearing a creation from Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig's label when she weds rocker Joel Madden at fatherLionel Richie's Beverly Hills estate tomorrow. According to the website, she and stylist Simone Harouche were in New York for a fitting last week and it "went very well."
Stylist April Steiner, who has dressed Nicole in the past, has her own predictions about what Richie's dress will be like. "I would not put her in pure white ... I would go more off-white or even a very pale pink, soft and elegant is what I envision. I would like to see her in a strapless gown or a one-shoulder. She is so tiny, so the more skin, the better," she tells RadarOnline.
Richie is known for her boho-glam style but was spotted on the red carpet in an elaborate tulle Marchesa confection at the opening gala for the Resnick Pavilion at the LACMA in LA. Get More From StyleList

Alex’s lawyer Donald Karpel said: “Alex is seeking a settlement, an apology from Demi and a donation made to a charity of her choice.”
Donald is currently working with the firm representing Demi and says he has “faith” an amicable settlement will be reached soon.
A spokesperson for Lovato told RadarOnline.com: “Demi’s attorneys have had an initial discussion with Mr. Karpel. They are exploring the possibility of an amicable resolution of this matter. We do not plan on making further public comments during this process.”
Alex, 21, had been planning to give an interview about the incident, in which she suffered a black eye, but was asked by Demi’s representatives to hold off until the case is negotiated.
She said only: “I hope to get this settled and put this behind me.”
Recalling the alleged attack, Alex recently revealed it happened after Demi had been told off about her behavior while on the Jonas Brothers tour and, believing one of the dancers had complained about her, the teenage star took them into a room and threatened them, saying: “If I find out who told on me ...”
However, Alex insisted she had no idea what the star was referring to and was stunned when Demi approached her on a plane the following day and punched her.
She said: "We were on the plane with the Jonases having this awesome time and I didn't get a call or text from Demi or a, 'Hey, you got a problem with me,' nothing. And she walks up and punches me and literally walked away and got in her seat.
"No one should walk up and do that and brush it over, it's not right."
Demi left the tour immediately after the incident and checked into rehab.
