Capcom is allegedly planning to unveil a newResident Evil game at next month's Spike Video Game Awards.
Speculation arose following the release of a trailer for the event, which depicted a biohazard logo and zombie imagery.
According to Gamerzines, the zombie designs in the footage are identical to those featured on an official Resident Evil t-shirt, suggesting that the teaser relates to a new entry in the survival horror series.
It is unknown whether the next addition to the franchise will be a true sequel or a spinoff. Another handheld iteration of the game is thought to be a possibility.
The Spike Video Game Awards take place on December 11.
