Chris Evans has claimed that Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley have refused to speak to him since he was controversially chosen to host The One Show.

Evans was appointed as the regular Friday night host of the BBC consumer show earlier this year - a move that is believed to have influenced Chiles's decision to leave the programme.

However, in an interview with Heat magazine, Evans alleges that Chiles told him he was planning to step down from the Friday night show shortly before Evans was offered the job.

The Radio 2 DJ - who said that he used to get on so well with the pair that he stayed out with them until 3am when he appeared on The One Show as a guest - insisted: "Adrian told me he didn't like doing Fridays. 

"He didn't want to give up Match Of The Day 2 on Sundays, but the Friday show was a hassle. He told me this directly.

"Bear in mind that he and Christine had hit this stellar fame for the first time and he was talking about giving up a chunk of it. I thought that was odd, but I also know that when you're in the middle of that kind of thing, you won't be told."

Evans said that he was soon called in for a meeting about potentially presenting one show a week, adding: "I totally understood, because I'd just had that conversation with Adrian about Fridays being a drag."

He went on to say: "Adrian found out it was going to be me doing Fridays and he decided he didn't want Fridays off anymore. Adrian hasn't spoken to me since. And [Christine's] never spoken to me since, either."
