Over the full hour, Emmerdale averaged 8.08m (31.5%), then Tyrone's shock discovery inCoronation Street was seen by 9.93m (38.1%) at 8pm.

Channel 4's Hollyoaks took 1.15m (4.7%) and 478k (1.9%) for E4's first look, while Doctors - affected by the cold weather - climbed again to a two-year high of 2.12m (20.9%).

Elsewhere, Neighbours delivered 901k (8.8%) at 1.45pm and 1.44m (7.7%) at 5.30pm to Channel 5, while Home and Away brought in respective audiences of 462k (4.9%), 865k (3.9%) and 562k (2.3%) for Fiver's first look.
