Padukone: 'Kajol in DDLJ is my dream role'

Deepika Padukone has revealed that her ultimate role would be to play Kajol's part inDilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

According to India Today, the actor said that the Yash Raj film was her favourite movie when she was younger.

The model-turned-actress commented: "I loved DDLJ and my dream role is Kajol's role in the film."

Padukone added: "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge came at a time when I was growing up and watching a lot of Indian cinema.

"At that time the trend of parents opposing the lovers and the couple going all out to get together used to fascinate me. Neither the lovers nor their parents would compromise on their ideology, albeit impractical."

The star's current project Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey went on release on Friday.

Salman Khan named 'Sexiest Man Alive'

Salman Khan has been voted 'Sexiest Man Alive' by the Indian edition of Peoplemagazine.

The Dabangg actor, who features on the cover of the latest issue, said that others rarely comment on his looks.

"I was never aware of how I look. People still don't compliment me," he told People.

The actor also admitted that while he has to go to the gym to maintain his physique for films, it is not something he enjoys.

"I hate working out in a gym. But considering the work that I do, I have to work out," he said.

Talking about his personal style, the actor added: "I am comfortable in worn-out, torn jeans and tees. Only the underwear shouldn't be torn."

Director Manish Acharya dies in accident

Manish Acharya has died as a result of a horseriding accident.

The actor-director had been on holiday with his wife and children in the resort of Mathura when the accident occurred on Saturday.

Upon hearing the news, Priyanka Chopra posted on her Twitter account: "My friend, future director, super funny wannabe beach bum and unbelievable human being Manish Acharya. I’m too shocked to say more."

Shabana Azmi, who featured in his first film Loins of Punjab Presents, said: "I can't believe Manish is gone. It's been so sudden."

Acharya's debut release about a New Jersey singing competition Desi Idol received acclaim at a wide number of film festivals.

The 40-year-old is reported to have been working on the script of a new Bollywood film at the time of his death.

Kaif is 'Newsmaker of the Year'

Katrina Kaif has been named "Newsmaker of the Year" after topping the chart of internet searches compiled by Yahoo! India.

The search engine published its '2010 Year in Review ' which identifies top trends of the year from millions of consumer searches and top stories from the Yahoo! network.

According to the findings, Kaif surpassed politicians and sports stars as the most searched for term in India.

The actress was said to have topped the list for both "professional and personal reasons" according to the review, on account of acclaimed performances in films like Rajneeti, as well as her breakup from Salman Khan and alleged romance with Ranbir Kapoor making headline news.

According to Yahoo! India, online activities were dominated by Bollywood, cricket and the Indian Premier League.

Aamir Khan 'anxious about Rao's script'

Aamir Khan has admitted that he was worried when his wife told him she was writing a film script.

The actor said that he hoped Kiran Rao would not finish the script she was working on to save any uncomfortable situations if he didn't think it was right.

"Every time she mentioned she was working on it I prayed that she would not complete it, and in time would abandon it," Khan said about the script for Dhobi Ghat, his production directed by wife Rao.

However, when Rao finished it, Khan said that he had nothing to worry about and was blown away by his wife's work.

"From the first scene itself, the script just sucked me in," he added.

Rao's debut Dhobi Ghat featured in the lineup of the London Film Festival and will be released on January 22.

Rai Bachchan cast in Ghosh's next film

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will reportedly team up with director Rituparno Ghosh again for his next film.

Ghosh has cast Bachchan in two previous films Chokher Bali and Raincoat, both literary adaptations.

His latest project will be an adaptation of Devi Chaudhurani by Bankin Chandra Chatterjee.

Bachchan said that she always knew she and Ghosh would work together again on another project.

"Ritu has been coming with so many wonderful offers after Chokher Bali and Raincoat. We were destined to come together," she said.

Bachchan also added that she would like to work in Kolkata, Ghosh’s home town, once again saying: "The city always welcomes me with open arms. I'd love to work here again."

SRK film to be soundtracked by Prodigy?

Shah Rukh Khan's latest project will reportedly feature British band The Prodigy on its soundtrack.

Ra-1 director Anubhav Sinha has expressed his support for the venture, which will see the Essex-based group working with Indian electronic duo Vishal and Shekhar.

Speaking to the Mumbai Mirror, musician Vishal said: "They are quite keen and so are we.

"This will be one of the biggest collaborations ever. Can’t wait."

The Prodigy, behind hits such as 'Firestarter', will be playing the inaugural Invasion Festival in India in January 2011.

Roshan, Bhansali react to Khan criticism

Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Hrithik Roshan have reacted strongly to Salman Khan’s criticism of Guzaarish

At an event last week, Khan reportedly mocked the film’s poor box office takings and insinuated that Bhansali was exploiting disabled people.

Guzaarish director Bhansali then retorted: "If such an old and trusted friend can be so insensitive I don’t want anything to do with the entertainment industry."
Hrithik Roshan, who said he has always looked up to Khan as a hero and someone he admired, added that Khan’s actions had been cowardly.

"It’s not heroic to laugh or make fun of a filmmaker just because his box office collections are not up there with yours," he said.

However Roshan said that he blamed a momentary lapse in judgement for Khan’s comments and had already forgiven him.

"[I] will expect a big hug the next time I meet him," he said.

Kapoor gives Deol some advice

Anil Kapoor has criticised Abhay Deol for making unflattering remarks about Aisha to the press.

Deol, who stars in the film alongside Kapoor’s daughter Sonam, had previously made comments about his role and remuneration to the media.

Anil, whose company also produced the film, said the actor was wrong to make the remarks but would learn from experience, according to the Hindustan Times.
"In my career, I’ve seen many actors speak out at the wrong time and regret their words later. It’s better to pick up the phone and talk it out than go to the media," he said.
“Abhay will be fine and know better in two [or] three years.”

Rao: 'I'm not in awe of Aamir'

Aamir Khan’s wife, filmmaker Kiran Rao, has said she found working with her husband as a colleague unintimidating.

Rao described her husband as a positive influence on the other, unknown actors during the filming of her directorial debutDhobi Ghat.

"Aamir puts people at ease. He doesn't give out any starry vibes," Rao told the Times of India. "I have never been in awe of Aamir."
Rao also defended her husband against allegations that Khan takes over any project he is involved in.

"Aamir is a great team player. He is passionately involved in projects and gives his time once he is committed to them. As a colleague, I know he never forces anything onto anyone."

Farah Khan 'praises Kaif's dedication'

Katrina Kaif has been reported to have worked hard on her new role in Farah Khan'sTees Maar Khan.

The actress is said to have put in extra effort, particularly during the filming of the popular 'Sheela Ki Jawani' track.

Director Khan said: "Katrina spent entire days and nights rehearsing for this song. I had to shout at her and insist she take some rest. I hardly ever saw her chilling on the sets."
In preparation for the shooting of the song, Kaif apparently visited the gym regularly and focused on her diet.
The Om Shanti Om filmmaker added: "I have worked with many actresses but have never come across anyone like Katrina. She was very devoted to her work and shooting with her was a pleasure."

After movies such as Namastey London and Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, the project repeats the hit pairing of Kaif opposite Akshay Kumar.

Sammir Dattani 'to get engaged'

Sammir Dattani is reportedly getting engaged to his long-term girlfriend at a ceremony in Mumbai.

According to The Times of India, his family have given permission for him to marry partner Ritika Jolly, who he has been dating for the last two years.

A source close to the Well Done Abba actor revealed: "It's going to be a private event. The invitees will strictly be family and very close friends."

Confirming the engagement, the Bollywood and Southern cinema star requested: "It's a very small ceremony with family and close friends. I wish to keep it like that."

As well as releases in Kannada and Tamil film, Dattani has worked on a range of Hindi pictures including Corporate and this year's I Hate Luv Storys.

The actor began his career as a model and professional roller-skater.

Saif Ali Khan 'delays shooting on Race 2'

Saif Ali Khan has reportedly delayed the shooting of Race 2 as he is still working on another film.

The actor needs more time to complete the filming of Agent Vinod, reports Mumbai Mirror.

Producer of the sequel Ramesh Taurani said: "Saif has a very different look in both films, Agent Vinod and Race 2. Hence, it would be impossible for him to do both these projects together."

The producer added: "Since Race 2 is a multi-starrer, the dates of other actors will all have to be readjusted now. This is going to be a hell of a job."

It is reported that filming on the action thriller will now begin in November 2011, rather than June as had been expected.

Anil Kapoor and John Abraham have confirmed that they will be appearing in the high-action project.

Freida Pinto finds paparazzi "scary"

Freida Pinto has spoken about the media interest around her since the success ofSlumdog Millionaire.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, the actress pointed to a building opposite her London hotel and suggested that it was not impossible for photographers to be stationed there.

Pinto said: "That would be strange, if the paparazzi got up there. But you know what, it is possible."

The 26-year-old star added: "In LA you hear all these stories of people being filmed in their own homes through their windows. I think that is so scary."

Pinto, who is in allegedly in a relationship with former co-star Dev Patel, reflected on the hype around her since her Oscar-winning debut.

The former model confirmed: "The paparazzi were always on the chase."

Anil Kapoor to go bald for role

Anil Kapoor is planning to shave off his trademark hair for his role in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Power.

Kapoor will play a villain in the film, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devbn and Sanjay Dutt.

The actor's spokesperson confirmed the news saying: "Yes, Anil will be taking a bold step for his role in Power.”

The Slumdog Millionaire star’s hairstyle has remained largely unchanged since he started his film career in the '80s. A source told the Mumbai Mirror that he was possessive about his hairstyle.

"Anil was thinking about his role for the last month and after much contemplation, he chose to go completely bald," the source added.

Power is due for release in the summer of 2011. Kapoor will also be starring in Priyadarshan’sTezz and alongside Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol next year.
