Love & Other Drugs' directed by Edward Zwick is what you call an unconventional, quirky love story.  Anne Hathaway portrays Maggie, a free spirit who won't let anything get her down.  She also enjoys having sex...lots of sex...preferably, meaningless sex.  And that works just fine for Jamie Randall (Jake Gyllenhall),  a very  charming, good looking, pharmaceutical salesman with a hot bod and not much consciousness.  So these two pretty people hook up...over and over again, always reassuring each other that the last thing they want to do is... fall in love.  Well, we've all seen enough Hollywood movies to know what's going to happen. Jamie and Maggie fall in love.  All goes well for a while, but then...Yep...it's the inevitable break up and of course the inevitable getting back together.  What's most interesting about 'Love and Other Drugs' is that it's set in 1993 when American life changed forever...For the first time, drugs became commercialized via ads in magazine and television. And a little blue pill called Viagra  came on the market and revolutionized sex.  There's really two stories going on here.  The Jamie and Maggie love story and the the story about how the drug companies have influenced our way of life...not necessarily for the good. But 'Love and Other Drugs' is a perfect chick flick for the holidays. Also in the cast is Hank Azaria, Oliver Platt, Judy Greer, the late Jill Clayburgh, George Segal, Gabriel Macht  and Josh Gad, as Jake's internet millionaire misfit brother. 'Love and Other Drugs' opens in theaters, Wednesday November 24, 2010. One of the 'Two Jews On Film' definitely did not feel the love.
