'Person of Interest' in Publicist's Murder Kills HimselfA man wanted for questioning in the slaying of Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen fatally shot himself Wednesday after being confronted by detectives in a Hollywood hotel lobby.

The man, who has not been identified, was a person of interest in the murder case and not a suspect, police say.

"This was not a guy we were going to arrest, we only wanted to question him," Lt. Tony Lee of the Beverly Hills Police Department tells PEOPLE.

The man arrived at the Harvey Apartments, a low-income hotel, at about 5:30 p.m. After Beverly Hills detectives approached him, he pulled out a handgun and killed himself.

The Los Angeles Times also quoted a neighbor, Brandon Harrison, as saying that the man, whom he called "Harold," had twice served in state prisons, for firearms and drug convictions, and that he was awaiting payment of $10,000 for a job he did.

Chasen, 64, was shot multiple times in Beverly Hills while driving her Mercedes-Benz in the early morning hours of Nov. 16 after leaving an afterparty for the Burlesque premiere.

Police have yet to say whether they've identified a motive and no suspects have been named.

Investigators believe an unknown vehicle pulled up next to Chasen's car while she was stopped at a red light and fired shots at the publicist through her passenger-side window, according to a coroner's document obtained by Los Angeles station KTTV.

Chasen then drove about a quarter mile before hitting a light pole and was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center shortly thereafter.
